Summary:

In 1986, Congress passed the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). The law requires all schools, K-12, to be inspected for building materials containing asbestos. The District is seeking approval for a contract, in the amount of $93,880.00 with EIC Environmental Innovation Corp., for annual AHERA inspection services at 53 district sites, and for $15,000.00 for the preparation of a Management Plan for each site. These services are required every three (3) years. Per Government Code 53060, the District is authorized to contract out services that require specialized training, experience and competent persons to perform special services that are not provided by District Staff.
