Summary: Sequoia Science Education will provide project direction and direct support to students and site staff for the MDUSD NGSS in the Garden Education Program at 11 sites in Mt. Diablo Unified. The contractor will act as project coordinator for the USDA Farm to School Grant, "Growing Healthy Kids in Mt. Diablo Unified School District: Experiential Farm to School Education and Training for Mt. Diablo Students and Staff" and for the SAGE Grant. In addition, direct project support for the SAGE Garden Project Grant programs will be provided at El Monte, Fair Oaks, Gregory Gardens, Rio Vista, Sun Terrace, Wren Avenue, Bancroft, Mt. Diablo Elementary, Pleasant Hill Elementary, Sequoia Elementary, and Riverview Middle School. Under the scope of the state and federal grants, the contractor will coordinate NGSS in the Garden Education programs at the sites, act as point of contact for the state and federal grant communications and reports, assist additional schools as appropriate in developing NGSS in the Garden Education, Cooking & Nutrition Education, and science activities, as well as work with garden educators and stakeholders to maximize distance learning experiences, standards-based lessons and multimedia instruction accessible from home. The contractor will work to maintain and improve gardens and outdoor science lab spaces as healthy environments for students, teachers, and school communities.
