Summary:
|
Review and Potential Approval of the Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation for Westwood Elementary. In response to limited school budgets and maintaining high quality education for all general education, mainstream and special needs students Kindergarten through 5th, the Parent Faculty Club (PFC) and the school have identified four programs they would like to continue as part of the Westwood Elementary curriculum. The four identified areas that would benefit students include: 1) Soul Shoppe (Anti-bullying/emotional intelligence curriculum/program), 2) 5th Grade Science Camp - Science Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM and nature-focused), 3) Xylophones for the music department, and 4) Accelerated Reader Program (Online reading program/assessment tool). The Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation grant would provide up to $42,037 to support continuation and enhancements to these programs.
