Summary:
The District is embarking on architectural reviews and design of all school facilities to enhance the safety of our campuses for students, employees, and the public. It is essential that the District have an employee who is able to collaborate with this process, have the capacity to engage in communication with local first responders and authoritative agencies in order to ensure that any changes to District facilities meet the goals of the District. Further, the District has had a missing component of an individual who can focus on potential risk and liability at all of our District facilities. Hence, the District is bringing forward a new job description that enfolds components of Risk Management and Safety into one position. This position will serve to support District decisions specific to increasing our work in the area of safety, lead work in the area of employee sustainability, and coordinate District resources with local agencies. The District is seeking approval of this job description to fill this vital role in the District.  
Funding:
General Fund.  
Fiscal Impact:
Funds currently set aside within the budget for a "Safety Coordinator" position and a "Communications Clerk" within the Superintendent's Office are being reallocated to support this position.  
Recommendation
