Summary:
|
As a condition of receiving a share of the $4.6 billion Expanded Learning Opportunity Grant, MDUSD must develop a plan for use of the funds to implement supplemental instruction and support strategies for students. Local governing boards must adopt the Expanded Learning Opportunity PLan on or before June 1, 2021, and it must be submitted to the Contra Costa County Office of Education and the California Department of Education. Stakeholders must have an opportunity to be involved in the development of the plan.
Allowable uses for the plan include: extending instructional learning time, accelerating progress to close learning gaps, integrated pupil supports, community learning hubs and access to technology, additional academic services such as assessments, training for school staff on strategies including trauma-informed practices to engage pupils and families in social emotional health and academic needs.
The Expanded Learning Opportunity Grant is further restricted by requiring districts to spend no less than 85% on in-person services and at least 10% of the total grant must be spent on paraprofessional as defined by Education Code Section 45330.
The Expanded Learning Opportunity Grant application is attached, along with a presentation to explain the context. Expanded Learning Opportunity Grant funds are one-time funds and programs/services funded by the Grant may not continue beyond the 2021/2022 school year unless another funding source can be found.
