ESY Waiver Request 2022.pdf
Summary
:
The waiver will reduce the number of Extended School Year (ESY) days from 20 to 18, and the hours will increase from 3 to 3.5 hours per day. Mt. Diablo Unified School District's calendar does not permit 20 days prior to the July 4th holiday, which means there is 1 day of ESY after the holiday. Our experience has been that students are far less likely to attend for the one day after the holiday after a three day break. In addition, staffing for ESY is a challenge and staff have indicated they are less likely to sign up to teach if the session ends after July 5th.
