Summary:

Mt. Diablo USD Adult Education (MDAE) requests approval for G. Vittoria Abbate and Robin Bielman, under which GED exam administration is conducted, to travel to Chicago, Illinois, from August 3rd - 7th, 2025 to attend the Annual GED National Conference 2025, for ongoing GED exam administration training.
Since the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic closing of the MDAE Regional Testing Center, causing the cessation of administration of the GED exam, MDUSD Adult Education students and more broadly, adult learners across Contra Costa County (CCC), have been adversely impacted, particularly as the six (6) other CCC adult schools have, over time, either reduced testing hours or discontinued administration of the GED exam.
MDAE plans to reopen its Regional Testing Center at the Loma Vista Adult Center (LVAC) Fall 2025, for administration of the Pearson VUE GED exam, ETS High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) and various other academic and technical certification exams. Reopening the MDAE Testing Center will be possible, in great part, by the MDUSD Measure J Informational Technology (IT) infrastructure improvements currently underway at LVAC. This IT upgrade will mitigate past technological problems routinely experienced during administration of the GED exam in years past.
