Summary:
|
Review and potential approval for 8 School Counselors to attend in person and four virtually the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada July 11-14, 2021 to develop and enhance skills and knowledge, research best practices, and network with other school counselors to strengthen the MDUSD school counseling program. ASCA is the professional organization that supports school counselors' efforts to help students focus on academic, career and social/emotional development so they achieve success in school and are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society. ASCA provides professional development, publications and other resources, research and advocacy to school counselors around the globe. Counselors who attend the conference will meet for a pre-planning meeting prior to the conference in order to discuss systemic needs such as learning more about Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Equity, reconnecting with students, and using data and assessment to monitor progress and impact. Counselors will provide professional development to school staff and fellow counselors after returning from the conference. The estimated cost for registration, travel, and accommodations is $10,000.
