Summary:
|
The district and university shall coordinate the process of placement of student and intern teachers. The university shall provide university mentors for all teacher candidates and have clearly defined qualifications for the mentors which include: 1. current knowledge in the content they teach 2. understanding of the context of schooling 3. ability to model best professional practices in teaching and learning 4. knowledgeable about diverse abilities, cultural, language, ethnic, and gender diversity 5. thorough grasp of the academic standards, frameworks, and accountability systems that drive the curriculum of public schools 6. hold a valid California Clear Teaching Credential in the area of the credential the teacher candidate is seeking University mentors shall visit teacher candidates in their fieldwork placement six times per semester to provide support, mentoring, and supervision. The District shall provide a cooperating teacher who will serve as the on-site guide, observing the teacher candidate at the classroom level and in collaboration with the University's mentor. The selection and qualifications of supervisors and mentors will be followed as outlined in Section VI - Selection and Qualifications of Supervisors/Mentors. Timing and Hours of supervision of student/intern teachers, Section VII, will also be followed. This agreement will remain in place through June 30, 2024.
