Summary: To meet federal and state guidelines for reopening schools for in-person instruction and to meet funding requirements from the State of California, employees shall support and participate in the District's reopening plans. For the 2020/2021 fiscal year, current employees who are in paid status on May 26, 2021 will receive a one-time Reopening Payment of $1500.00. This is a flat amount, regardless of the employee FTE allocation, and will not include: Superintendent, board members, coaches on contracts, home/hospital hourly employees, all hourly employees, Eagle Peak staff, substitutes, active retirees, and Summer School staff. Employees who are on full-year unpaid leave status for the 2020/2021 school year are not eligible for the stipend.

Fiscal Impact Not to exceed $5,510,000
Recommendation: Move to approve a one-time $1,500 stipend for MDUSD employees who are in paid status on May 26, 2021, excluding the Superintendent, school board members, coaches on contracts, home/hospital hourly employees, all hourly employees, Eagle Peak staff, substitutes, Summer School staff, active retirees, and employees who are on full-year unpaid leave status for the 2020/2021 school year.
