Summary:
The Emergency Connectivity Fund, administered by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) provides 100% of the cost of connectivity for remote learning during COVID for anything approved in the MDUSD Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) application submitted in August, 2021. Pending final notification of approval of MDUSD's application from the FCC, MDUSD will acquire up to 5,000 hotspots to provide connectivity to students whose families attest they would otherwise struggle to provide home connectivity for learning. This item is to memorialize the process and obtain preapproval for up to $100,000 of one time funds for connectivity for July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 for any shortfall not covered by the fund. Devices will be distributed based on parent input from the Brightbytes survey that is currently underway.
